What could be a more perfect time to tie the knot with your loved one, than when the sun is shining and the weather is beautiful and warm? Most marriages take place between May and August, so here are some ideas for this season for the perfect romantic summer wedding.

These overbust buskless corset basques with matching skirts are ideal for weddings as they provide a fabulous cinched waist and support for the bust whilst still giving the appearance of being a one-piece dress. Corsets are, of course, adjustable, so you can be loosened or tightened a small amount in order to accommodate a little weight lost or gained in between choosing your outfit and your wedding day without the need for costly alterations. The basques are fully steel boned, just like all our corsets, and so won’t bend out of shape like cheaper, plastic-boned versions. They are designed to be a little more flexible than our regular corsets, suitable for all-day wear, including sitting down for the wedding breakfast, and all the delicious food you’re going to eat!

Traditional brides will love the ivory silk dupion and satin from which these summer wedding outfits are created. The large bow on the Papillon corset bustier is very flattering on the bust, whilst the concealed zip allows the corset to be fastened easily before the lacing is tightened at the back. The Papillon outfit is completed by a matching floor-length skirt which is fitted at the hips, flares out at the knee into a fishtail shape, and has a small train as a finishing bridal touch. Our ruched-front corset bustier is simple and elegant, also with a concealed zip and a matching shorter, summery pleated skirt which flares to an a-line at the waist, flattering the hips. The sweetheart neckline of the third outfit is always a popular choice, shown here in ivory satin with a pretty bow at the empire line, which can be made in a contrasting colour if required. The flared skirt sits just below the knee, so you can keep cool without worrying about upsetting any prudish relatives, and the skirt can be worn with or without a petticoat underneath depending on whether you prefer a more traditional or ’50s look.

You may want to both keep with traditional bridal colours such as ivory or white and add a touch of personality to your special outfit, so how about adding a splash of colour? A long, ivory silk, fishtail skirt would be perfect with our deep red overbust corset with a covered front busk and halter straps. The covered busk means that the silver clips at the front of the corset are hidden, which is ideal if your jewellery is made of gold or pearls. Adding a matching ivory silk halter tie brings the outfit together perfectly, as well as providing a little cover above the arms. For a more fun take on the ruched corset bustier, choose a white tulle skirt and the corset in a deep red, which can come laced at the back with white ribbon to match the skirt. It doesn’t just have to be deep red or silk – we have a large selection of satins, prints, brocades and taffetas in many colours, so please do pop in to see us or send us an email if you would like any of these outfits in a different colour or fabric.

We have met so many disheartened brides who’ve found their dream wedding dress but however much they breathe in just can’t get the zip to do up that last couple of inches! Never fear – although the beautiful and detailed corsets above wouldn’t be very helpful under a dress, we have a selection of cheat corsets and shaping girdles to give you a gorgeous, smooth hourglass figure under your outfit. Chosen with care, nobody need ever know that it’s the steel bones doing all the work! These corsets have been chosen especially for their strength yet slenderness, as bulky fabrics and trims would be much more difficult to hide underneath a dress. Underbust corsets are great for dresses with low backs or structured cups, or if you would feel more comfortable wearing a bra underneath the dress. Our longline underbust sits just under the bust and curves over the hips, pulling in the waist and covering any unsightly bulges, or if you’d prefer just to have the waist reduction try our ever-popular shorter underbust instead. There are several shapes of overbust corset which would be suitable – our bestseller sweetheart neckline corset shown above, our version for larger busts, or the deep plunge overbust for very daring dresses! Of course, all these corsets are available in underwear colours of plain ivory, white and peach as well. The Vargas dress by Kiss Me Deadly completely destroys any preconceptions of shapewear being unsexy. The Chocolate Box and Les Patisseries sets from Miss LaLa Presents are both fabulously girly and perfect for summer. Both bras are underwired for support, and padded for comfort and shape.

The satin Chocolate Box bra has pleated cups and is adorned with bows on the straps, whilst the Les Patisseries balconette bra is made from stretch woven cotton with a mouthwatering patisserie print, is trimmed with blue lace and has a pink bow in the centre as a finishing touch. Both bras are available as a matching set – the Chocolate Box deep knickers feature a cheeky pleated heart on the rear, and the Les Patisseries briefs comes in a matching print with lace around the sides and two pink bows. Both sets are available in sizes 32b – 36d, and are in stock for immediate dispatch.

If it’s silk you’re after, you can’t get much more luxurious than the new Sally Jones all-in-ones we’ve added to our lingerie collection; the perfect combination of comfort and elegance. The open-front teddy is carefully made from exquisite silk with gently pleated cups, and fastens at the front with a pearl button. Trimmed in cream French lace, the teddy is available in either classic black or blush pink silk.

The playsuits from Andrea Billard’s new Paris collection encapsulates Parisian style, giving it a vamp twist. Created from stretch silk and and finished with a halter collar tied with a ribbon bow, the playsuit has lined cups and a fastened gusset. This design is also available as a cami and tie-side knickers set, again in beautifully soft silk in either the red and black colourway, or classic French maid black with white trim.

If that’s not enough, We have also added three new pretty chemises to our range of Sally Jones lingerie – one in silk and two in satin. Sitting just above the knee, the 100% silk chemise in midnight blue is trimmed with complementing nougat French lace and finished with dainty nude bows. The satin chemises are both trimmed in sparkly black and silver fine eyelash lace, and are available either in pewter with a polka dot chiffon frill, or in lilac with the chiffon frill in micro spot and embellished with a matching bow.

We are very pleased to introduce the new collection from Cadolle available exclusively in the UK from our London boutique ‘Lulu and Lush‘, and online through our website. Their founder Herminie, according to Cadolle, invented the first bra in 1889, and since then they have been producing beautiful and innovative lingerie designs for the female form.

	We absolutely love the unusual high-waisted Can Can knickers, which are made from duchess satin and delicate French lace, but also structured with boning in order to cinch the waist whilst achieving the balance between cheeky and elegant perfectly. Trimmed with tiny black satin bows, the knickers are pictured here with Kiss Me Deadly‘s Sirena bra.
Bringing sexy back to shapewear, their gorgeous Nadia powermesh girdle skirt is carefully tailored to give a fabulous shape under tight skirts and dresses, with panels to cinch and smooth in all the right places. It can even be worn alone with stockings as part of a cabaret-style outfit.
	Their long, semi-sheer silky Tanya skirt with built-in powermesh girdle and detachable suspenders can be worn either to give a beautifully cinched waist under a long skirt, or on its own for a more daring Burlesque twist. The design of the skirt enables it to be worn under skirts with even very high splits and perhaps even teamed with a corset, for the ultimate in Jessica Rabbit chic.

This week we are delighted to add to our Ayten Gasson range a few carefully selected items from her unique Spring/Summer collection. Our favourites from the Annabel set are the silk georgette cropped kimono, camisole, knickers and tap pants with cotton trims, pictured here in cream with black and also available in green with cream trim. Most of all, we adore the all-in-one flattering bias-cut teddy, shown here in green with cream trim and also available in the other colourway.

The gorgeous teddy is also available in delicate oyster silk satin, trimmed with eqxuisite hand-crafted bridal lace, as part of the Grace collection. Pictured to the right of the teddy, is the Emily blush pink bloomer pants and matching babydoll, finished with a cream ribbon trim, perfect as light and comfortable loungewear.

We were very excited to be invited to take part in the catwalk show for the Miss Top Model 2009 grand final, showcasing Britain’s most talented new young models, along with exclusive corsets from FairyGothMother and our current Lulu and Lush collection, teamed with Maria Morris’ ‘Take Me Home’ lingerie, which will soon be available exclusively from our Spitalfields Boutique.

The grand final and VIP gala event, put together beautifully by show director Geoff Cox, was held at the majestic Porchester Hall and filmed for Fashion TV, with entertainment provided by bands including the super-glam Stonefoxx and soul diva Nathalie Miranda.

As well as the final awards by the panel of judges from Impact Model Management and Vidal Sassoon amongst others, prizes were awarded by the designers and by a public text vote. Stunning Sarah Hughes from Kent (pictured below, middle) was the overall winner, and also took home the Lulu and Lush Burlesque model award.

New to the website this week and just in time for the Easter bank holiday weekend, we have a few items from the Spring/Summer ’09 collection. Carefully made from the most delicate silk chiffon, the Tea Rose, Vanilla and Orchid are the perfect lingerie pieces to wear whilst spending the Easter long weekend being pampered whilst reclining on a chaise longue, bathed in the gorgeous spring sunshine… Although sadly, but unsurprisingly, the weather forcast suggests otherwise!
