The treehouse is self-catering, so Clare and Colin decorated it themselves, adding their own personal touches. “You get married inside and sleep there,” Clare shared. “It’s surrounded by lovely gardens and a lake"

Alice Mortimer, professional hair stylist and makeup artist, helped Clare and her bridesmaids look and feel amazing. “She was amazing, especially working with an older bride and bridesmaids,” Clare said.

At 55, Clare wanted a small wedding with her closest family and her dogs, but she didn’t want traditional white. “I wanted something really different,” she explained. “My style has always been different or quirky.”

After searching online and finding nothing that felt right, Clare suddenly came across FairyGothMother. “I saw THE dress and I thought, well, let’s have a look. And I fell in love with it. So did everyone. The amount of comments on the day and from friends, people are still raving about it. They said it was so me. I matched the decorations to the dress, and seeing as it was a treehouse, in the woods, I felt the dress was perfect with the theme.”

Her advice to other brides: “Don’t stress it. Keep things simple. Remember to look after your guests, they’re travelling, staying over, bringing a present, so make sure they get a good meal.” Clare also added thoughtful touches: “I did some party bags for everyone with a scratch card, puzzles, a recovery drink for the morning after, an eye mask, and Mr and Mrs Love Hearts that I gave out just after the meal. It was a real talking point.”
