Nicki and Neil Stewart celebrated their intimate seaside wedding on the 27th of October 2025 at the picturesque St Nicholas Chapel in Paphos, Cyprus. With its white-washed walls, blue dome, and breathtaking views across the Mediterranean, it offered the perfect setting for their romantic, low-key elopement.

Nicki had been searching for a tea-length bridal gown: something flattering, cool enough for Cyprus, and true to her personal style. As a mature bride at 51, and with nursing shifts to balance with her best friend Carey’s school timetable, coordinating an appointment felt impossible. With time running out, she made the trip to London alone.

At FairyGothMother, she was warmly welcomed by Emma, our boutique’s shop manager, who made the entire experience calm, supportive, and honest in all the ways that matter.

“Emma welcomed me warmly and supported me wonderfully as we explored styles and budget options. She listened to my ideas and wasn’t afraid to be honest when a style didn’t suit me.”

Because Carey couldn’t be there, they WhatsApped between every dress - little videos, reactions, and excited commentary shared from changing room to classroom.

Nicki came in loving the Veronica, convinced it would be the dress. But then she tried on a wildcard: a dress with satin skirt with a beautiful sweetheart neckline and mesh top.

“It swished beautifully when I moved, hung perfectly, and felt light and elegant.”

Both Carey and Emma loved it - and Nicki felt that moment of clarity too.

“I realised I needed something that wasn’t predictably me.”

And on the day?

“I felt fabulous, comfortable, and completely myself. I loved how it moved and swished, and it was perfect for our chapel setting.”

A Low-Key Elopement Full of Heart

Nicki and Neil always envisioned a relaxed, intimate elopement: something meaningful, personal, and free from pressure. They found their dream venue in St Nicholas Chapel, with its whitewashed walls, blue dome, and sweeping Mediterranean views.

Their planner, Vicki (@tietheknotcyprus), organised every detail:

— Legal paperwork
— Photography
— Flowers
— Decorations
— Transport
— Hair and make-up

“The make-up was wonderful, still natural enough for me but perfect for photos. I felt beautiful.”

Nicki was even collected in a limo, an unexpected free upgrade that set a magical tone for the afternoon.

They married at 4pm, celebrating with champagne in warm golden light before heading to the beach for sunset portraits.

Celebrating With Plate Smashing, Dancing & Fire Tricks

For dinner, the couple chose Coral Oasis Taverna: a lively, traditional Cypriot venue filled with energy and joy. The celebrations included:

— Traditional mezze
— Cypriot dancing
— Plate smashing
— Fire tricks
— And plenty of laughter

Nicki’s tea-length gown let her dance, move, and join in effortlessly.

To keep the magic going, they booked an evening cruise the next night with Ocean Vision: complete with dinner, entertainment, a disco, and fireworks over the water.

“Cyprus was truly wonderful, everyone was so friendly and intent on making our experience special.”

The Moment She’ll Never Forget

“Walking up the aisle was indescribable. That first look between us confirmed everything, we were exactly where we were meant to be. As we spoke our vows, the rest of the world simply disappeared. It was everything I had ever dreamed of.”

Wedding Day Wisdom

Nicki’s advice is heartfelt, empowering, and beautifully true:

1. Do it your way

“This is your wedding, your memories, and your joy, not anyone else’s expectations.
If someone says you should wear a trouser suit but your heart wants a dress, wear the dress, ball gown, satin, lace, tea-length -whatever makes you smile.”

2. Don’t worry about how you look

“Those insecurities only exist in your head. Everyone else will see a beautiful, happy bride. Don’t let self-doubt dim your day.”

3. Slow down and soak it in

“Pause halfway down the aisle. Take a breath before your vows. Notice the moment.
The day goes so quickly, and you’ll want to relive every second, even the imperfect or funny ones.”

And finally:

“Enjoy it. Laugh, dance, mess up a line - just have fun.”
